As time clicks, free agency rolls around.
With this years talent pool of free agents fairly low, GM'S of all around the league are giving specific interest to lower end players. Who you might ask? Well just keep on reading!
First of all, we can see GM's already offereing quite alot of contracts to RFA'S. With the most important RFA being Jay Bouwmeester. Apparently he's gotten ridiculous amounts of contracts, with teams like Washington, Boston, Chicago, LA, and Detroit being interested. We have talked to the Florida Panthers general manager, and he said he will match anything that will be put out on him.
Other forwards include Pierre Marc Bouchard who apparently recieved a 4 year 16 million dollar offer from the Montreal Canadiens. Time will tell what Minnesota Wild GM will do.
Another forward who usually doesnt get much attention. Well, he does get attention but not in a good way is centreman Alexei Yashin. Teams like Washington, New Jersey, and Florida are all interested. Fans, get ready to boo, as it looks like Yashin is coming back.
Anson Carter - In the running are the Atlanta Thrashers, and the Chicago Blackhawks. According to sources, they both offered up $2.5 million dollars a season. If Carter can regain his form he once had back in the Canucks jersey, $2.5 million a season would be a steal.
Most surprisingly are the contracts being given out to goaltenders. Goalies like Dan Cloutier and David Aebischer are given chances to redeem themselves.
More from Eklund later.
