I Dont know what to think about this one. This does somewhat help the Ottawa Senators franchise since they have a lack of defenceman at the moment, but it does not necessarily mean the filled a hole. Colaiacovo does have alot of upside, and a lot of potential, and will be a great asset to not only the senators, but to any team in the future as he has loads of potential. Now only if he can stay healthy, it will be a solid trade.
As for Chris Neil, Cliff Fletcher sure pulled a good one on this. Neil will be a great asset to the Leafs, considering what they are trying to accomplish in the future. They are adding solid toughness to their core.
Conclusion - As of now, Toronto wins this trade, but if Colaiacovo shows the potential he once had, it will be a steal for Bryan Murray and the Ottawa Senators.

I agree 100%. If Colaiacovo can stay healthy, he can fill the role of a 4 or 5 defender as of right now and hopefully fit nicely into the second defensive pairing eventually. If Neil could stay out of the box and regain his form from two years ago he could be a very solid 3rd line checker who can chip in the occasional goal as well.

this is why i made this deal
1) coliacavo played 7th d-man 2) i needed grit that can score 3) we need a fighter...not just grit 4) coliacavo is injury prone 5) Neil will be popular in t.o
